An American actress, born in Port Arthur, Texas, on November 20, 1916. As a kid, she received lessons in singing, dancing and playing the piano, and she hoped to become a ballerina, but she entered several beauty pageants, which led her to work as a chorus girl, before moving to California at the age of twenty, where she was discovered by the legend Cecil de Mille, and she signed a contract with Paramount. Among her most important roles are in: Gone With the Wind (1939), Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941), and The Jolson Story (1946). Evelyn Keyes died on July 4, 2008 in Montecito, California, of uterine cancer and complications of Alzheimer's disease.
