He was born Harold Clayton Lloyd on April 20, 1894 in Borchard, Nebraska. He is the son of a traveling photographer who settled in San Diego. He starred in small roles in comic strips. became friends with aspiring filmmaker Hal Roach. Lloyd began collaborating with Roach who had formed his own studio in 1913. He is known for Just Nuts (1915), Safety Last (1923), and Girl Shy (1924). He died on March 8, 1971 in Hollywood.
