American actress, born on June 25, 1900 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, United States. Her family soon moved to Illinois. In 1922, she won a beauty contest in Chicago and, despite the strong disapproval of her father, she began acting in the early 1920s. She achieved notable success with Charlie Chaplin in The Gold Rush (1925). She participated in many works, including The Salvation Hunters (1925), The Lightning Warrior (1931), and The Last Moment (1928). She died June 17, 1985 in Hollywood, California.
