An American singer and actress, born on November 28, 1923 in Los Angeles, California. Her father was an architect and author, and her mother, Jean McDougall, was a stage actress. Grahame began her acting career on stage in 1944. She made her film debut in Blonde Fever (1944). Her other notable films include It's a Wonderful Life (1946), Crossfire (1947), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), and The Bad and the Beautiful (1952), for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She died on October 5, 1981, in New York City.
