A Cuban thinker, journalist, philosopher, and poet of Spanish origin. He was born in Havana, Cuba. He was well-known for opposing Spanish colonization of Cuba. He made significant contributions to politics, philosophy, and literature. He wrote numerous books that urged for justice and independence and captured the essence of Cuban patriotism. He had written his first play entitled "Abdala," about an Egyptian young man named "Abdala" from Nubia.
