American actor and writer who became a professor of journalism at Boston University. He worked as a reporter for the Boston Globe from 1985 to 2003 and won many local and international journalism awards. He also served as a legal affairs reporter in the Globe. He was a reporter for the Hartford Courant for some time. Among his most important works is the movie Black Mass (2015), which was adapted from his book of the same title.
