American actor and singer, born in Santa Ana, California, USA as John Emmett Raitt. He received the Golden Laurel Award in 1958 for The Pajama Game (1957) and also received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1992. He married Marjorie Haydock (1950-1971), with whom he had 3 children....Read more He then married Kathleen Smith Landry (1972-1981), and Rosemary Kreamer (1981-2005) and remained with her until his death on February 20, 2005 in Pacific Palisades, California, USA, of pneumonia. His most important works include Annie Get Your Gun (1957), The Pajama Game (1957), and Minstrel Man (1944). He studied at Fullerton Union High School, graduated from the University of Redlands, and worked in Broadway musicals. He was a successful singer and he joined several groups before signing a contract with MGM to appear on the cinema screen to sing and act in musical films. He was the father of Steven Raitt, David Raitt and singer Bonnie Raitt.
