French actor, born in Marseille in 1921. He was educated in France, Britain and Turkey. He trained as an actor with René Simon at the École Dramatique. He started his life working in the hotels of Nice, Cannes and Marseille. He began his artistic career in 1939 with French films. After the occupation of France in World War II by Nazi forces, which arrested his father and his two brothers, he participated in the French Resistance and distributed newspapers in the subway as part of the resistance.
