An American writer and producer, born in Syracuse, New York. He served in the US Army during World War II. He became a screenwriter for Cincinnati television and radio stations. He studied at Binghamton High School and attended Antioch College in Ohio. He earned his bachelor's degree in 1950, and in 1951 he began selling artwork and quickly became one of the leading writers in the artistic community. He taught dramatic writing at Ithaca College in New York. His writing credits include Planet of the Apes (1968), Patterns (1956), Night Gallery (1969-1973), and Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962). Among his several awards and nominations, he won Primetime Emmy Awards He died in Rochester, New York, in the United States.
