In the 1990s, she became famous as a chanson singer. In 2007, she participated in director Fatih Akın's The Edge of Heaven, which achieved great fame. In the same year, she received the Honorary Award from the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, and in 2010, she received the Honorary Golden Award Bear from the Berlin Film Festival.
