A German actress and singer, born on December 25, 1943, in Königshütte, Silesia, (now Chorzów, Poland), to German parents. In 1945, her family went as refugees to Munich. In the 1960s, she started studying Romance languages and German studies, in addition to taking acting lessons. She focused on acting, becoming known specifically for her work with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, most notably the film Effi Briest (1974). Hanna acted in French, Italian, and American films. In the 1990s, she became famous as a chanson singer. In 2007, she participated in director Fatih Akın's The Edge of Heaven, which achieved great fame. In the same year, she received the Honorary Award from the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, and in 2010, she received the Honorary Golden Award Bear from the Berlin Film Festival.
