An American actor, born in Wollaston, Massachusetts, USA, on February 18, 1907, as William Andrew Jones to an immigrant father from Wales. Billy left America with his parents when he was 9 years old. After returning to America, he learned to dance and joined a band as a dancer.
Thereafter, he went to London to work in its theaters for 5 years, and when he returned to America, he was contracted by Paramount Company, making his film debut in Dixie (1943), and as soon as he finished shooting the film, he enlisted in the US Navy until the end of World War II, after which he continued his work with Paramount, playing many prominent roles, the most important of which were in Blue Skies (1946), The Perils of Pauline (1947), Tea for Two (1950), and Lullaby of Broadway (1951). He died on March 5, 1974, in Los Angeles, California, USA, of lung cancer.
