An American screenwriter, producer, director, and actor, born in the United States. He is the son of Edward Sedgwick Sr. and Josephine Walker, both of whom were theater actors. He graduated from Saint Mary's University in Galveston, Texas, and then joined a military academy in San Antonio, where he graduated as a first lieutenant. His twin sisters, Eileen and Josie Sedgwick, also acted in films during the silent film era.
