Charles Drake was born in New York City, New York State, USA on October 2, 1917, as Charles Louis Ruppert. Among his most important films are Harvey (1950), Winchester '73 (1950), The Glenn Miller Story (1954), and Rendezvous (1957). Charles Drake graduated from Nicholas College in 1937 and worked as a sales representative before heading to theatrical work in 1939, then signed a contract with Warner Bros. to work in small roles in notable films such as The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), and The Maltese Falcon (1941), and Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), but his artistic career was interrupted in 1943 when he joined the US Army in World War II in the Burma front.
He returned again to Hollywood after the war and worked for Universal Company in relatively better roles, becoming a top supporting actor in Western and war films, and in 1955, he turned to television. Although he acted in more than 80 films, he was never a star. Drake passed away on September 10, 1994, in East Lyme, Connecticut, USA.
