George Marshall was an American director, born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 29, 1891. He received a Star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. George Marshall was dismissed from the University of Chicago in 1912, and he took on several jobs where he worked as a mechanic, newspaper reporter, and logger, then tried his luck in entering the film industry. At the beginning of the thirties, he was interested in directing comedies and worked with Fox, then Universal and finally Paramount, and towards the end of his career he turned to directing television series. He is famous for directing the movies Destry Rides Again (1939), and The Blue Dahlia (1946). George Marshall died on February 17, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, of pneumonia. |
