A British writer, born in Bitton, Gloucestershire, England. He was raised in the West Country and studied at Beaudesert Park School and then Marlborough College. He later became a soldier in World War II and joined the Grenadier Guards. He was a farmer before becoming a teacher...Read more at Farmborough Primary School and a writer. In 1978, he published his first book, "The Fox Busters". He was appointed OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2010 New Year Honours. He died in Somerset, England. He is known for The Water Horse (2007) and Babe: Pig in the City (1998).
