An English director, born in London, England. She earned a BA in English language and an MA in film studies from Scotland's Edinburgh College of Arts before graduating from York University. She also studied directing at the National Film and Television School in London and worked for the British Broadcasting Corporation for three years. She also directed her first feature film, entitled Brick Lane (2007), which is based on the novel of the same name by Monica Allie.
