A British actor, born on November 19, 1924 in Sunderland, England, UK, as William Russell Enoch. He was involved in organizing entertainments during his national service in the Royal Air Force and then, after university, went into repertory theatre and appeared in classical English plays in London's West End theater. From there, he went to work in a cinema in supporting roles, which led him to work on television.
He held a senior post in the actor's union, Equity. In recent years, he has been a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. He was married to Dr. Balbina Gutierrez and had 3 children with her before marrying Etheline Margareth Lewis Enoch, with whom he had a child. He is known for The Great Escape (1963), Superman (1978), and Harriet's Back in Town (1972-1973).
