An Indian actor and winner of local awards and several Filmfare Awards in India. He also starred in the largest number of films that India has entered to compete for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film. He is also a writer, producer, director, lyricist, recording artist, and choreographer. He founded the film production company Raaj Kamal Films International. He received the Padma Shri Award in 1990 for his contributions to Indian cinema and received an honorary doctorate from the Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. He is one of the Indian actors who completed fifty years in cinema. His films include Hey Ram (2000), Dasavatharam (2008), and Vishwaroopam (2013).
