He was a German actor, born on December 4, 1933 in Berlin, Germany. When WW II broke out in Europe, Buccholz was put in a foster home in Czechoslovakia, but he returned to Berlin the moment he had the chance. He realised his talent for acting and dropped out of school to perfect his acting skills. After moving from East Berlin to West Berlin, he became well-known for his work in the theatre and on the radio. Because of his ability to speak various languages, he was able to move across Europe and Hollywood. He started his acting career in 1951 and, after a series of small or uncredited roles, he found a larger one in Marianne of My Youth (1955). His first non-German film was the British film, Tiger Bay (1959). The rest of the 1970s and the early 1980s were spent mostly on television and movies released for television. He is known for Life Is Beautiful (1997), The Magnificent Seven (1960), and One, Two, Three (1961). He received several awards and nominations, such as the Bambi Awards, German Film Awards, and the Bravo Otto. He was married to Myriam Bru, with whom he had two children, one of whom is the actor Christopher Buchholz. He passed away on March 3, 2003 in Berlin, Germany from pneumonia.
