Salma El-Sharkawy |
American screenwriter and director, born in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He graduated from the University of Chicago, where he met his future collaborator, Norman Panama. He and Panama moved to Hollywood and began a career writing scripts for radio serials. Among their works are Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) and White Christmas (1954), in addition to co-directing films such as The Court Jester (1955). They also wrote plays together, one of which was adopted into a movie called Li'l Abner (1959), and they directed the comedy and romantic movie A Touch of Class (1973).
