An American journalist, novelist, playwright, and screenwriter, born in New York, USA. He later moved to Chicago, where he began his career in journalism. His first book, "Erik Dorn," which was based on his experiences in Berlin, was released in 1921. After moving to New York, he started his career in theater on Broadway and wrote a few plays that went on to become popular. But it was his work as a screenwriter that brought him real fame. He received two Academy Awards. He is known for Notorious (1946) and Scarface (1932).
