A British actor, born in Buckinghamshire, England, UK, on September 20, 1914, as Kenneth Gilbert More. His father worked as a general manager of the Jersey Eastern Railway. He studied at Victoria College and practiced acting in the school's theater. He began his career by appearing on the stage of the Windmill Theater in 1935. He also served in the Royal Navy during World War II. More married actress Beryl Johnstone (1939-1946), with whom he had a daughter, Mabel Barkby (1952-1967), with whom he had a daughter, and actress Angela Douglas (1968-1982).
He is known for A Night to Remember (1958), The Longest Day (1962), and Scrooge (1970). He won the BAFTA Film Award for Best British Actor in 1955, as well as the Volpi Cup in the same year. He also received the Medal of Honor from the Queen of Britain for his services to drama. He died on July 12, 1982, in Fulham, London, England, UK of Parkinson's disease.
