An American actor who was born in Zanesville, Ohio, USA. He was awarded the NBR Award in 1956 and 1951 and received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. He had 3 wives and 3 children. He is known for La Strada (1954), Moby Dick (1956), Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964), and Being There (1979). He began his career on Broadway, and after leaving a clear imprint, he moved to Hollywood in 1947. He was acclaimed for the movie He Walked by Night (1948). In the seventies, he turned to television and made a clear mark as well. He died on September 17, 1984 in Los Angeles, California, USA from several strokes.
