An American actor, born in San Jose, California, USA. He received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. He is known for Rope (1948), Strangers on a Train (1951), Senso (1954), One Life to Live (1968). He worked in many low-production films and signed a 5-year contract with Samuel Goldwyn, through which he presented a number of distinguished films with major stars and top directors. In the fifties, he worked for American television and joined Broadway before returning to the cinema. In the sixties, he traveled to Italy to present many films there before returning to the United States of America to work in theater and television. He died on March 27, 2011 in Manhattan, New York City, USA.
