An American actress, who was born in New York City, New York, USA on April 17, 1918. She received a star on the Walk of Fame in 1960. She is known for Anne of Green Gables (1934), Stella Dallas (1937), and A Man to Remember (1938). Her father died the same year she was born, and she lived a difficult life with her widowed mother, but she contributed to supporting the family financially. When she was 16 months old when she worked as a model for photography, and when she was four, her mother sought to include her in films. And at the age of 19, she presented many successful films. She married three times and give birth to a daughter who became an actress and a son who became a poet. When her third husband died, she was traumatized by alcoholism for a while. She died on July 4, 1993 in Los Angeles, California, USA of lung cancer.
