An actress, historian, professor of film studies, and founder and curator of the Film Archives at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She holds a BA and MA from South Dakota State University. She is also an honorary trustee of the American Film Institute, a member of the steering committee of the National Center for the Preservation of Film and Video, and a member of the board of advisors of the Independent Video and Filmmakers Association. She has appeared in numerous documentaries, as well as dramatic roles.
