An American actor who was born in Dallas, Pennsylvania, USA on November 4, 1918. He received the TV Bambi Award in 1970. He had 3 marriages and had 7 children. He is known for Carousel (1956), The Beachcomber (1962), Blood and Black Lace (1964), and The High Chaparral (1967). He was of German-Irish origins, and his father was a minister. After graduating from Grenod High School in Pennsylvania in 1936, he studied at the Institute of Dramatic Arts in New York City and worked in the Broadway theater. He participated in the American experimental broadcasting before joining the United States Air Force to participate in World War II. After the war ended, he participated in his first film What Next, Corporal Hargrove? (1945). He presented more than 300 cinematic, television, and theater works. He is known for the American series The High Chaparral (1967). He died on July 6, 1994 in Palisades, California, USA, of lung cancer.
