Serbian writer, director, and actress, born on January 28, 1957 in Belgrade, Serbia. She is known for her important roles in Yugoslavian films over the past 25 years. She was also known for her debut movie tria's Wreath (1980). She was awarded a medal for portraying an uneducated Serbian woman. She is known for playing the role of the mother in the 1985 movie When Father Was Away on Business. She appeared in Underground (1995) by Serbian director Emir Kusturica. Her movie Grbavica: The Land of My Dreams (2006) sparked widespread controversy as she played the role of a Muslim woman. She won four important awards and was nominated for eight other awards. She won the Best Actress award at Brussels European Film Festival and at Pula Film Festival. |
