Serbian writer, director, and actress, born on January 28, 1957 in Belgrade, Serbia. She is known for her important roles in Yugoslavian films. She is also known for her debut movie Petria's Wreath (1980), winning accolades for portraying an uneducated Serbian woman. She played the role of the mother in the 1985 movie When Father Was Away on Business. She appeared in Underground (1995), by Serbian director Emir Kusturica. She participated in the movie Grbavica: The Land of My Dreams (2006), which sparked widespread controversy. She won several awards, including the Best Actress Award at the Brussels Film Festival and the Pula Film Festival.
