An American director, born in Columbia, South Carolina. After graduating from high school at the age of sixteen, he headed directly to New York State, and joined a musical band in 1940. He is famous for the film Singin' in the Rain in 1952, which he directed with singer Gene Kelly, and the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 1954. |
