An American writer and director, born into a theatrical family in New York State, USA. He is the son of actress Reine Davies and director and producer George Lederer. After his parents' divorce, he was raised in California by his aunt Marion Davies, an actress and writer for the newspaper of the writer William Randolph Hearst. He worked for the same newspaper, and joined the University of California, Berkeley, graduating in 1929, then continued his artistic career in cinema. |
