An American actress, born in Birmingham, Alabama, USA on June 20, 1911. She married 4 husbands and gave birth to twins who died shortly after birth due to diabetes and adopted two children. She is known for My Man Godfrey (1936), Stage Door (1937), My Favorite Wife (1940), and Perry Mason (1957). She is the best example of women of the thirties and forties. She obtained her BA from Howard College and studied law at the University of Alabama. By chance, she participated in a competition prepared by Paramount, and although she did not win, this led her to travel to Hollywood where she got a job in the studio for $ 75 a week.
