Toqa Hesham |
An American actor, born in Brooklyn, New York, USA, on September 14, 1880. He married Camille Personi, and after they divorced, he married actress Eva Lang (1918-1928), after which he married actress Eleanor Griffith (1929-1947), with whom he had a child. He is known for The Philadelphia Story (1940), Bed of Roses (1933), Intermezzo (1939), and Bird of Paradise (1932). John Halliday was of British descent, but American by birth, and he acquired from his parents the British accent. He worked in Gilbert & Sullivan operettas before moving to Broadway, staying there from 1912 to 1936. He made his movie debut in 1911. He passed away as a result of a heart ailment, on October 17, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.
