French actor, writer, and poet, born in Compiègne, France. He was a member of the Académie Goncourt from 1983 till his passing and had limited roles in movies. After completing his studies, he decided to focus on teaching and went into exile in Brazil, where he taught French while there following World War II. After returning to France in the late 1950s, he began to take an interest in his artistic production. He participated in writing several works, such as La Menace (1977), King of Hearts (1966), That Man from Rio (1964), and The Swashbuckler (1971). He died in 2014 at the age of 92.
