A Japanese director, screenwriter, and actor, born in Matsumoto, Japan. Yamazaki sought to work in the field of special visual effects after being influenced by the films Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Star Wars. He enrolled at the Asagaya College of Art and Design, and then joined Shirogumi, a company specializing in visual effects, in 1986, where he worked in the fields of digital compositing and special effects. He is known for a number of works, such as The Fighter Pilot (2013) and Stand by Me Doraemon (2014), which won the Award of the Japanese Academy for Best Animation Film.
