A Filipino writer and director, who graduated from the College of Liberal Arts, De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines. During his undergraduate studies, he worked as a writer for the university's Theatre Guild and the Harlequin Theatre Guild. He also worked as a part-time professor in the Department of Mass Communication, but began as a professor of literature at De La Salle University until 1987. He was an associate professor and chairman of the Department of Philippine Studies when he left to join the entertainment world, founding his own production company, Available Light, with Manny Castaneda and Don Escudero. The company produced films such as Tuhog in 2001.
