An American writer, producer, and director, born in Kansas City, USA. His father was a concert artist with a symphony orchestra, and his mother was a teacher. He graduated from Harvard University and continued his theater studies in Europe on a university scholarship. He is a writer and director known for Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1970), Bang the Drum Slowly, starring Robert De Niro and Michael Moriarty, and A Piece of Eden (2000). He has also worked closely on several occasions with playwright and author Tennessee Williams.
