An Indian actress and singer. She began her career after winning the television singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. She caught the attention of the director, Lehla Sanjay Bhansali. During her second participation in the program, which led to her getting the opportunity to sing in the film Devdas in 2002, as Paro. The film won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the song Dola Re Dola, the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the same song, and the Filmfare Award for Best New Musical Talent. Since then, she has continued her career working as a playback singer in films, where she has presented many successful songs in Indian films in different languages such as Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, and Punjabi. Her films include Paheli (2005), Black (2005), and Om Shanti Om (2007).
