An American actor, born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, United States. He later moved to Omaha, Nebraska. He appeared in more than two hundred and eighty films, most of them in the era of silent cinema. His interest in theater led him to comedic theatrical acting, and he worked in vaudeville. Among his works are Show of Shows (1929) and Call of the Prairie (1936).
