An American actress, born in Washington, USA. She is the youngest of four children in her family and spent most of her childhood in Cleveland, Ohio. Her father James Victor Murphy died in 1940, and shortly after that she and her mother moved to Southern California. She attended high school, then signed a contract with Paramount Pictures in 1951, and appeared with Tony Curtis in the film Beachhead in 1954, and with Dale Robertson in the film The Desperate Hours in 1955. She also played the role of Frederic March's daughter in the film and co-starred with actor and director Ray Milland in his film A Man Alone in 1955. The following year she collaborated with the director Joseph Losey to present the film The Intimate Stranger.
