An American actress, born in San Mateo, California, USA, on February 23, 1938, as Diane Marie Antonia Varsi. She had 2 children and married 4 times, among them is producer Michael Hausman (1961-1965). She is known for Peyton Place (1957), Compulsion (1959), and Wild in the Streets (1968).
She was born to a father who worked as a florist, and she suffered from a miserable childhood that led to her dropping out of high school and taking on different jobs. She moved between San Francisco and Mexico and finally settled in Los Angeles and was interested in folk singing, dancing, acting, and writing poetry. She joined Jeff Corey's acting classes and he nominated her to work in Peyton Place (1957), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. She died on November 19, 1992, in Hollywood, California, USA, due to respiratory failure.
