An American producer, writer, director, and actor, born in San Francisco. He earned a law degree from Stanford University, but never pursued a career in law. While still in college, he appeared in the film The Covered Wagon (1923). After graduating, he was hired by several film companies as a technical consultant for films. Soon after, he entered the film industry as an actor and also wrote several films. His works include The Petrified Forest (1936), Love Affair (1939), You Were Never Lovelier (1942), and Destination Tokyo (1943). |
