• An Austrian explorer, photographer, mountaineer, and writer, born in Hüttenberg, Austria. He was a member of the Nazi Party and a member of the Sturmabteilung. In 1927, he moved to...Read more Graz, where he studied geography and sports at Karl-Franzens University. He was also actively involved in mountain climbing and alpine skiing, and he was a candidate for the 1936 Winter Olympics. He won student alpine skiing competitions, but mountaineering became his real passion. His credits include Abenteurer und Entdecker (1977) and Osterskitour in Tirol (1940). He died on January 7, 2006, in Friesach, Austria.
