An American director, producer, and writer, who is best known for writing and directing The Strangers. He was born in Crowley, Texas, and studied cinematography at the University of Texas at Austin. Brian moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a lighting engineer and was writing the script back then. Brian submitted The Strangers to receive a fellowship from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, but dropped out four days before the script was sold to Universal Studios. It was directed by Mark Romanek, who demanded a high budget at the time.
