Salma El-Sharkawy |
An English writer, born in Britain. He is known for his novel, The History of Tom Jones. He attended Eton College, and he studied literature and the works of classical writers. He aspired to be a writer and finished writing his first play in 1728. He then moved to Leiden University to study law, but he was unable to complete his studies due to financial constraints. Then he became professional in theatrical work and wrote. After he became a theater director for about twenty-five plays, he presented the farce “Tom Thumb” in 1730 and wrote the novel “Joseph Andrews” in 1742.
