American screenwriter. Born November 20, 1903 in Hayward, Wisconsin, USA. One of the founders of the Screenwriters Guild, then the Writers Guild of America. Wrote many of his scripts with his wife Laura Kerr. He left screenwriting and became the publicity director for the Writers Guild, founding and editing the newsletter. He served as the public relations director for the Screenwriters Guild from 1963 to 1986. He studied journalism at the University of Minnesota and worked briefly as a reporter. She began in Hollywood as an electrician, before later working as a publicist at RKO. She worked under contract as a screenwriter for Twentieth Century Fox from 1935 to 1939, and at MGM from 1949 to 1953. Co-founder of the Screenwriters Guild. Notable films include The Farmer's Daughter (1947), Tension (1949) and The Devil Is Driving (1932). Collaborated with her on several screenplays, including The Farmer's Daughter (1947), for which Loretta Young won the 1947 Best Actress Oscar. Died February 17, 1990 in Los Angeles, California, USA
