An American actor of Irish origin, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, Regis Tommy received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. Tommy studied theater arts at the University of Pittsburgh and was initially thinking of working in law, but his work in art eventually prevailed. He studied music before joining the university, which allowed him to work in musical theater and present musicals, but during an artistic tour in England, Regis suffered from severe laryngitis that almost forced him to rethink his artistic future. He ended his stage in theater after the emergence of talking cinema, and became popular in cinema in the thirties and forties, and because he had a strong personality, he appeared in many classic films. In the fifties, he was one of the prominent faces of television, as he always played the role of a judge, mayor, businessman, and policeman. He continued to work in television and cinema until the early eighties when he disappeared from art after the death of his life partner (Catherine). Regis married Catherine Scott, had two children, and remained with him until she died in 1981. Regis Toomey died ten years later. His artistic works include His Girl Friday in 1940, Spellbound in 1945, The Big Sleep in 1946, and the series Burke's Law (1963-1965).
