An American writer and director, born in Santa Monica, California, United States. His mother raised him in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood Van Nuys. Garris began producing his own home films when his parents split when he was twelve years old. As he grew older, he worked as an independent critic for several newspapers and publications, including The San Diego Door, The Los Angeles Herald-Examiner, Cinefantastique, and Starlog. He directed the horror film Sleepwalkers (1992). |
