An American-Canadian director, producer, and screenwriter, born in Kashmir, India, and spent his teenage years in Australia. His father was a diplomat, and after a short period of work as a news photographer in Australia, he moved to Canada in 1963. He directed several documentaries during the 1980s, and shot his first feature Heartaches in 1981. He participated in award-winning films such as Bye Bye Blues and Whale Music and received many national and international awards, including the Kodak Lifetime Achievement Award. |
