An Indian poet, director, and producer, born in Jhelum District, British India (present-day Pakistan). The events of Partition forced him to leave his studies and move to Mumbai to work and support his family. He began his career as an assistant to director Bimal Roy. His career in songwriting was with music director Sachin Dev Burman, and he provided songs for the film Bandini in 1963. He founded his own production company and wrote the book "Ravi Paar", which talks about his experience with director Bimal Roy. Some of his credits include Slumdog Millionaire, Raazi, and Anand. |
